Marabou Stork

The marabou stork was a repeat bird from our East Africa trip four years ago, although we saw fewer of them.
Marabou stork. The pink gular sack is below the bill.
The head is the epitome of ugly.
The only pictures I got, and the only ones I remember seeing, were in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe at the vulture show at the Safari Lodge (where they feed vultures the left-overs from the night-before BOMA meal). There were several, ugly as ever.
They really do rival any other bird I can think of for ugly and disgusting.

  1. These aren't the storks that bring babies to happy parents. They look more like undertakers.
