I saw one
purple-throated woodstar hummingbird in Ecuador last year (see my prior post for a description), a female, and saw several more this year in Colombia at Montezuma Rainforest Lodge. I believe two were females and one was a male.

I believe this is a male. The purple throat looks black if the light is not right and this has a black throat. |
 |
I believe these are both females. |
It is found in eastern Panama through western Colombia on both slopes of the Western Andes to Western Ecuador.

Purple-throated woodstar range from Wikipedia. |
As far as hummingbirds go, this one is a little more modest. I'm continually surprised by the tiny range.
