Pima Rhatany or Purple Heather

I did a post on pima rhatany ten years ago. I'm doing the same thing I did ten years ago, I'm repeatedly going back to the same area and seeing how things change as time progresses. Ten years ago I was going into Joshua Tree NP on a dirt road accessed off the Hayfield Road offramp of I-10. This year due to Covid-19, the access to Joshua Tree NP is blocked. So I'm going south of the freeway into the flats before and foothills of the Orocopia Mountains.

I'm finding more of it south of the freeway than I did north of the freeway. 

A profusion of flowers that makes it difficult to pinpoint individual flowers. This was taken April 25, 2020.

A week later, May 2, 2020, I'm finding it easier to photograph individual flowers.
