Blunt-Headed Tree Snake

While staying at the Inkaterra Amazonica Reserve outside Puerto Maldonado in the Peruvian rain forest, we took a night walk with a guide into the rain forest. It was an amazing experience. It was extremely hot and humid and water and bugs were everywhere. While walking through the forest, our guide, Jesus, spotted a blunt-headed tree snake in a large plant. He allowed it to crawl on his hand and then I had an opportunity to hold it.

I then took some pictures of this long, thin snake as it went among the leaves of a plant.

I would like to have spent more time during the evening on our walk. It was an incredible adventure and learning experience.
