Western Meadowlark

Since seeing the backside of a western meadowlark in February in Live Oak Canyon I've gotten better looks of meadowlarks elsewhere.
This meadowlark was in Buffalo Lake NWR near Amarillo, Texas. That area has both western and eastern meadowlarks, but I believe this was a western because of its longer and more complicated song.

This meadowlark was at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea NWR, unit 1.

I'm still waiting for a great photo. But I'm getting closer.

  1. He looks like he is wearing a tie, especially in that first photo of him singing.
