Wire Lettuce

Ten years ago when I did a post on wire lettuce, I only saw one plant. This year, on the other side of the freeway, I've seen quite a few plants. I've particularly noticed the flowers this week (May 2) and last week (April 25).
The plant is mostly stems, but it has quite a few flowers spread throughout.
It has pale pinkish lavender flowers, five to six notched rays and pinkish purple stamens. The stems are gray-green and make up the majority of the plant.
This single flower with a backdrop of stems.

  1. I would walk by this bush and not really give it a second glance. You are good at looking at things closely (especially plants) and discovering the beauty that is there.
