I saw my first cedar waxwing in the Texas Panhandle almost two years ago and blogged on it here. Late last November I saw several at Big Morongo Canyon (see below)
and last Saturday I saw scores of them at the Irvine Ranch Water District San Joaquin Wetlands (see below). The one I saw in the Texas Panhandle appeared larger and beefier. The ones I'm seeing in California seem much skinnier and longer.
Those red dots on the wings in just one photo are startling.
