Yellow-Billed Shrike

We saw at least four different yellow-billed shrikes in Kidepo Valley NP in Uganda but I don't have much recollection of the sightings.

A distinctive orange patch is visible in this photo to the left of the rump (usually concealed by the closed wing) as well as the brown central tail feathers.

I love the band over the eye that gives it the look of a bandit and the yellow bill which jumps out.
Illustration of the yellow-billed shrike, ssp affinis, from Birds of the World.
The subspecies affinis is found in southern South Sudan, northeastern DRC, western Kenya and northern Uganda.

In addition to the facial mask it has a buff supercilium and fawn brown upperparts with streaks of black.
Range from Birds of the World.
