Klaas's Cuckoo

Birding with my guide William on the hill below Nkima Forest Lodge and above the Mabamba Swamp, southwest of Entebbe, Uganda, William stopped me and told me to take a photo of a bird on a branch over our heads above the trail we were on. The light was poor and I couldn't really make it out. He said to pay close attention to it. So I walked slowly around the branch, trying to get photos from different angles, but I really couldn't see the bird when I was taking the photos, the sun had it all in shadow, and it was only when I got home and removed the shadow with Lightroom that I could see it. I got the impression from William that it was very rare, but not so, unless it was just rare in that area.

Birds of the World says it is a "common and widespread cuckoo in sub-Saharan Africa."
