The blue-barred parrotfish is a species of parrotfish known by other names, such as the cream parrotfish, green blotched parrotfish, yellow scaled parrotfish and bluechin parrotfish. It is blue-green to green and is highly variable in appearance. It can have a central stripe on the dorsal and anal fins that is pink, the underside can be pinkish or yellowish, and there may be blue around the pectoral fins.
They specifically occur in the Galapagos Islands as well as places like Indonesia, Japan, Australia and French Polynesia.
I saw two versions off Egas Port, Santiago Island, in the Galapagos Islands, which were identified on iNaturalist as both being blue-barred parrotfish, neither which looked like each other or looked like the descriptions I've already given. However, they were very fun looking and big fish which we enjoyed sharing the open waters with.
I remember these. There were lots of them and they were very distinct. Nice to know what they were.
