The Crazy Norwegian's Fish & Chips - Port Orford, OR

The morning after our presidential election feels like a post-apocalypse. Four years ago our country voted in an agent of change, people were tired of the status quo. The electorate was right - we got change, lots of it. After four years of constant lies, corruption, demanded fealty to a narcissistic king and would be fascist-dictator, we knowingly asked for four more years (or perhaps 8 or 12 or a lifetime) of the same: anti-science, anti-intellectualism, anti-environment, anti-truth and a world made for the benefit of the very rich (everyone else be damned). This time around we deserve everything we've asked for. We've voted for the emperor who has no clothes.

So this morning of mourning it seems fit to think of a meal at The Crazy Norwegian's Fish & Chips in Port Orford, Oregon, while thinking of the Crazy American's choice for the leader of our country.

I enjoyed the oyster shooters we ate, using huge oysters grown in the ocean waters off Coos Bay. I enjoyed the fried oysters that came with a wonderful sauce.

I am not looking forward to the diet we are about to partake of in the U.S. One meme I enjoyed a few weeks ago showed a large orange pumpkin with Trump's face carved in it. It said something to this effect: "They're orange on the outside, hollow on the inside and should be tossed out in early November." We had our chance and we didn't toss it out. It is hard to think of anything less enjoyable than old pumpkin.

I've made an effort not to partake of the bickering and divisiveness of the election. But hope has died and it is time to mourn.

    1. I agree it isn't over yet, unfortunately there will be a lot more bickering because it was very close.
