Say's phoebe is a bird named after Thomas Say, an American naturalist. It is gray/brown above, has a long black tail, has a gray breast, cinnamon belly, and is more orange around the vent. It is found in the western half of the U.S. and is a year-round resident of portions of the extreme southwest, including our area.
I've seen two in Live Oak Canyon, one on October 1 and another on October 10.
A bird to love just for it's wonderful name that I could never figure out as a kid.
