North American Barn Owl

Last month I did a post on the North American barn owl. I noted that I've never gotten a photo of one roosting. That all changed today. My old telephoto lense, a Sigma 500mm, stopped autfocusing (and the repair prospects did not look good). So I got a new Tamron 150mm to 600mm zoom lense and took it out this morning to try it out.

I was rewarded with my first photo of a barn owl roosting in a large oak tree. I also got my favorite barn owl photo so far, a partial shot of it flying. I share some of the photos below:

  1. One of the highlights of our Covid-inspired canyon walks is the sightings of this owl, a first for me.
