Swallow-Tailed Kite

At Montezuma Rainforest Lodge in Colombia we watched swallow-tailed kites flying high above and beyond us. I asked my guide if he ever saw them perched and he said no - he always saw them in flight.
Photo from Wikipedia.
It is a beautiful bird and I would love to get closer and get a better photo.
My photo from far away without much definition.
It breeds in the southeastern U.S. and southern Mexico and Central America and northern South America. The North American and Central American birds winter in South America in the same places that it is a year-round resident.
