Javan Myna

The Javan myna is also known as the white-vented myna and is a member of the starling family. It is native to the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali and has been introduced to other countries, including Singapore, where I saw it at the Singapore Botanical Gardens.
It is mainly black, with brownish-black wings, primaries with white bases which display in flight as a white wing bar, along with a white tail bar. The undertail coverts are white. There is a short crest on the forehead. Its beak, legs and feet are yellow. The eyes are lemon-yellow. Juveniles are more brown.

  1. I quite like the myna birds we have seen with their contrasting beaks and feet and pop-out eyes. So much cuter than ravens.
