I've previously posted on the pied kingfisher on
June 18, 2018, on ssp. rudis seen in Botswana, and on
March 23, 2019, on ssp. leucomelanura we saw in Sri Lanka. On our trip to Uganda I saw several more of the ssp. rudis.

| These were seen in the Mabamba Swamp near Entebbe. This was different than the others I've seen by the sheer numbers that were together. I capture five in this photo, but there were at least three times as many in the tree which I couldn't capture because of my long lens and focus issues, and I saw this several times in the swamp. Males and females. |
