I found another new bird for me at Rio Grande Nature Center State Park in Albuquerque: Woodhouse's scrub-jay. This bird used to be combined with the California scrub-jay as one species, the western scrub-jay. It differs from the California scrub-jay, the bird of our backyard and canyon, with duller blue, darker gray underparts, a less distinct necklace and a straighter bill.

It looks smaller than our scrub jays. Is it?
