The northern white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus borealis) is the darkest and the largest of the white-tailed deer subspecies and is found from central to eastern Canada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and up the Atlantic Coast to Maine.

We recently drove out to the eastern end of Long Island, in the State of New York. Near Montauk we saw several northern white-tailed deer grazing near the road.
