Candy Kitchen - Bridgehampton, Long Island

We recently drove to the end of Long Island. My primary desire was to see the Montauk Lighthouse, at the very end of the island. 

The Montauk Lighthouse

It was the first public works project of the new United States authorized by the Second U.S. Congress and President George Washington in April 1792. It is the oldest lighthouse in New York State and the fourth oldest operational lighthouse in the U.S.

The Connecticut shore across Long Island Sound, taken with a telephoto. The Sound is 21 miles across at its furthest point. 

Another desire was to see "the Hamptons." The Hamptons comprise most of the south fork of the east end of Long Island and include the villages and hamlets in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton. The villages and hamlets include, but are not limited to, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor, Amagansett, and Montauk. Sagaponack, Water Mill and Bridgehampton were sited as the first, sixth and eighth most expensive zip codes in the U.S. in 2016 by Business Week. The median home sale price in Sagaponack that year was $8.5 million.

In Bridgehampton we stopped briefly at the Dan Flavin Art Institute

and then walked across the street to Candy Kitchen and enjoyed some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had, quite sweet, just how I like it. Judy and I also got banana splits and Andrew got ice cream and some fries. The banana splits were "Hampton" priced at just under $14.00 and were okay. However, the setting was fun and the staff was very friendly.
