Meal - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

In October 2017 when our train pulled into Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan we immediately set off on buses for the snowy Ala-Too Mountains.
After a short hike we got back on our buses headed to Bishkek, the capital city, and stopped at the outskirts to view a cemetery. I love the cemeteries in Central Asia. So much more personal and individualized than our own. It could use a little weed abatement, but it had character.

When three buses with 90 people pull into town it is difficult to give individualized services. So we went into a restaurant and enjoyed a large communal meal, sitting on wonderful couches with  colorful pillows. I'll let the photos do most of the talking.

Rice and lamb.

This chocolate drink was a smash hit.

  1. The chocolate drink was the best part of the meal. It was so nice to get some chocolate of any kind! And I'm with you regarding the cemeteries. I think I'd like a bust of myself on top of my marker.

  2. Interesting how the graves look like big bird cages.
