The black-striped salema is endemic to the waters around the Galapagos Islands.
It has a conical shaped head, a protruding lower jaw, large eyes, horizontal lines along the flanks, a dark silvery-gray back, often with yellow-green, yellow-blue or blue-green tints, shading to paler silver on the flanks and silvery white on the underparts. It can get to be as long as 12 inches.
While not really camouflaged, they are harder to pick out than some others. Good thing they travel with all their relatives.
