Ten years ago when I did a post on wire lettuce, I only saw one plant. This year, on the other side of the freeway, I've seen quite a few plants. I've particularly noticed the flowers this week (May 2) and last week (April 25).

It has pale pinkish lavender flowers, five to six notched rays and pinkish purple stamens. The stems are gray-green and make up the majority of the plant.

I would walk by this bush and not really give it a second glance. You are good at looking at things closely (especially plants) and discovering the beauty that is there.
