Audobon's warbler, found in the western U.S., is one of four subspecies of the yellow-rumped warbler. The others are the myrtle warbler, the Mexican black-fronted warbler and Goldman's warbler. There is a proposal to name them as four separate species.
Audobon's warbler migrates to the southern U.S., Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean to winter. It is gray, with a streaked black breast, has a slate blue back, with flashes of white in the wings and white tail patches, and has a yellow throat, crown, rump and patches on the sides.
I saw this beautiful bird at the Living Desert in Palm Desert, California in February 2020.
What beautiful, random markings.
