The spotted dove is found in the Indian subcontinent (India and Sri Lanka east to Southern China) and Southeast Asia. It is rosy buff with shading gray on the head and belly. It has a half collar of black feathers and white spots on the back and sides of the neck which gives it its name. The back has brown feathers with rufus spots. Legs, feet and eyes are red.
I only photographed one, in Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka.
