The Indian stone-curlew or Indian thick-knee is found in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It has a dark stripe bordering a cream color mustache-like stripe below the eye. They have large yellow eyes and are primarily active at night. They have stout yellow legs with thick knees giving them the name "thick-knee."

It lays two to three stone-colored eggs in a scrape on bare ground. It is found in dry forest, scrub, stony hillsides and fallow land. I saw only one or two, apparently sitting on nests in Minneriya National Park.
He looks a bit cynical.
